PC gamers have four freebies that they can add to their digital libraries right now, but time is running out to claim them. Whereas most "free" games on consoles actually require subscriptions, many of the free games on PC are genuinely completely free of charge. These freebies are given out across a variety of digital storefronts, with both Steam and the Epic Games Store giving away free games on a regular basis.
Both Steam and the Epic Games Store are known for their free game giveaways, but how they give away their free games is very different. On Steam, it's not platform owner Valve giving away the free games. Instead, free Steam games are given away by developers and publishers, oftentimes to promote a new game or a sale or something along those lines. Because of this, free Steam games are unpredictable. The Epic Games Store free games, meanwhile, are given away by Epic Games and are made available every Thursday at 10:00am CST. This way, Epic Games Store users know exactly when they can pop back on and claim the latest freebies.
